Required: Personal API key
  1. Log in to PostHog
  2. Click your profile icon or name
  3. Scroll down to Personal API Keys
  4. Click + Create a personal API Key
  5. Give your key a descriptive label
  6. Select the scopes (permissions) required:
    • Choose only the endpoints you need (security best practice)
    • Or simply select the MCP preset
  7. Click Create key
  8. Copy the key value immediately (it’s only shown once)
